Called to get test results- HIV- nurse claimed they needed to be reviewed? Freaking out...?

My doctor is away and will be back on monday- i called to get the results of my test because i had gotten all my results over the phone on wednesday of my other tests. SHe told me that she was meaning to call and let me know my results were in...

BUT my dr. needed to review them and my doctor would personally call me on monday and to stay by the phone.

I know this nurse personally and she would have said things are okay call if you need us

if i was HIV negative.

oh God. Help.

Monday seems so far away

I have never done any drugs, and i am not a whore....

First off, not everyone with HIV has done drugs or are whores. If you have had unprotected sex, then you can be at risk for getting HIV.

Most doctors don't want to tell you results over the phone due to confidentally. Maybe the doctor wants to see you in person to talk with you about having safe sex.

The good news is, if you do find out you are HIV+ then there are excellent programs and treatments out there so you can lead a normal life.

HIV doesn't mean that it is the end of the world like it did when we first discovered it. There are medicines, expert doctors, and organizations to help you.

If you find out you are not HIV+, then PLEASE refrain from having unprotected sex. This way you can be assured that you won't get ANY STD.

it could be something besides HIV and I'm sure she wouldn't tell you the results if the Dr. hasn't even seen them yet. She may not have even looked at them. It's probably nothing so try not to stress. Good Luck!

Its going to be a long weekend...

Find something to do that will take your mind off this. Take long walks, pet cats, fly a kite. Anything. Moping around the house won't help you.

very anxiety provoking indeed. HIV test is a very sensitive issue, maybe only MDs can release that info to patients and also, so they (doctors) can take the chance to educate you about safe sex and all. Good luck and hope all is well.

This means you have HIV.

If on Monday you find out that you do come back and rate this answer as the best. Otherwise rate the one of the guy who said you had nothing to worry about as the best.

Do me a favor, I do not know who you are but I feel for you now. You could be freaking out for no reason because there may be another reason behind her wanting to review the results, your test may not have been processed properly or perhaps the reading is showing abnormalities because you have another issue that may have thrown the results off, dont worry yet, life is too short. If you are in doubt have blood drawn once more and be patient. And if you suspect you may be HIV positive, please refrain from sexual activity that is unprotected, always use condoms and if you and your partner arent then you should start, because its never too late to start safe sex practices,it could save your life. You and your partner need to talk, especially if you are concerned that he or she may be a carrier or unfaithful communication is key in prevention. Good luck.

A nurse can not give out STD results unless the doctor signs the results. some test come back faster than others. Another thing if you were positive they will call you in to the office to tell you they can not tell you over the phone if you are positive.
And u put u are not a whore well it only take one time with out a condom to catch any thing so use one and just cause u don't sleep around does not mean your partner is the same way. I have had many patients catch STD on there first time including AIDS. And married women catch things from there so call faithfull husbands.
