Why would a Medical Technologist use CPR or first aid??? |
do medical technologist need this??? Med Technologists can, in some cases, work in environment where they are the only medical professional in a room, e.g. Phlebotomists. If, for instance a med tech is taking blood for a test, and the patient codes, the med tech should be able to provide a bystander level of care at the least. The important reason is that the earlier care is provided, the greater the likelihood of resuscitation and lower chance of injury. IMO, anyone in a health care environment should have at least Adult, infant, child CPR and AED training. anyone that works a medical field must know cpr and first aid, because you never know what might go wrong, while you are in a hospital there is the danger of anything happening everywhere even on the hospital's cafeteria The person who answered first is right...Obviously if you are working in a healthcare enviroment you are more likely to be present at the time of a person going into cardiac arrest or needing some other kind of assistance.... Everyone there should know the very basics until someone more qualified can arrive/take over. If it were up to me no one in this country would get a high school diploma without being CPR AED and first aid trained and certified... I think anyone who works in ny public place should have this training and I think All public places ( movie theraters, sports arena's etc.) should have AED's and trained personell on hand All healthcare professionals need to know First Aid/CPR. A cardiac arrest or emergency can happen anywhere and the sooner proper aid is given, the better chances that the person will survive. Actually, the odds you will ever USE it are about as low as for an average layperson- but imagine for a moment the problems- ethical, personal, legal, etc-. for you and your employer if someone DOES code while you are the only staff around. i am a unit secretary and have been for about 20 yrs. i am required to be certified in cpr. i think it's just a joint commission thing plus it 's good for everyone to be certified 'cause you never know |
