My kitten is crying! read the story?

My female cat had 3 kittens about 3 weeks ago. Today one of the kittens started meowing.... sharp cries of pain and I looked at him and noticed he is gasping for breath..... labored breathing....

when the mother rejoined him he settled down on the tit and nursed and slept but when she took a break he started crying out in pain again and seemed to be choking on his milk.... he sounds gurrgly..... and sits up tall to aid his breathing.... he lays but keeps his head raised to breath....

What is this and what can I do???? Is he going to die???? Will he get better on his own????

I DONT HAVE THE MONEY TO TAKE HIM TO THE VET! but i am calling now.

Veterinarian. NOW.

only one word VET!! Not that hard to figure out

Take ALL the kittens to the vet, you might want to bring the momma too... but the sick kitten should go pronto!!

TAKE HIM TO THE VET AT ONCE!!!

OH my gosh that sounds really bad.. YOu should definetly call a veternarian

Take him to a veternarian immediately. There may be some kind of blockage in his esophagus, or he may have been born with some sort of deformity. Whatever the problem is, leaving it to hope he gets better is not going to help. Only a veternarian who examines him will be able to have any idea of what the problem actually is.

Wait, you have a cat, you allowed her to get pregnant, one of the kittens sounds very ill, yet you can't afford a vet? Why on EARTH would you have a cat, much less a pregnant one, without having the proper money to care for it?

Contact a no-kill rescue group and ask them to take all the cats. This way they can get the proper vet care and be put in a home that can responsibly care for them.

It sounds like the kitten is ill. If you can't afford the vet care, you should not have a pet.

I agree with Hunters R Cowards - I personally think you should try surrendering them to a rescue group, so the kittens will get proper medical care. The only other option I can think of is a low-cost vet - i.e., through a Humane society. Or calling a vet for advise, and asking if they have some type of payment plan.

Hannah, bets mostly also have payment plans and you can also take the animal to the Humane Society. I hate to say it but if you cannot afford a vet, don't have the pet. Pets deserve better than the suffering they go thorugh with people not able to get them the medical care they need when they need it. It's NOT going to get better, and if that animal dies, it's on your conscience. Surrender your animal so he can find an owner who can take care of him.

I dont know what area you live in but there are PDSA's that you can go to and the treatment is a lot cheaper, i understand you cant afford it but at the end of the day the kitten may be in serious pain or maybe even dying. You should take it to the Vet as soon as possible.
