Is it okay to take over the counter sleeping pills while pregnant? |
Just seeing if anyone else was able to do this with permission from the nurse or doctor? Ive had sleeping problems before I got pregnant and I stopped taking them when I found out. Anyone have any kid of experience with this? Would they give you a prescription sleeping aid instead? Help anyone? I am going to wait til i talk to the nurse about it. I just forgot to call today and the ob/gyn is closed right now. Only just wondering if anybody was allowed to get any kid of sleeping aid prescribed or over the counter No tea is a better alternative just watch for certain herbs because they are not safe while pregnant. Celestial Seasonings "Sleepytime" tea worked great for me NO, don't do it, keep in mind, it will get to your baby too. definitely NOT!!!! You should ask your doctor always, but they let me take a HALF of a Tylenol PM because I have anxiety. No...sleeping pills are not advised for women who are pregnant. Ask your OBGYN for alternatives to help you sleep. If you're pregnant never take any medication without asking your doctor. Do Not take anything unless you talk to the doctor first. When I was pregnant they would not give me anything for sleep and they told me not to take over the counter sleep aids at all. you have to go to a doctor and have him prescribe one for you. please ask your doctor first Just keep in mind that you cannot take any meds while pregnant that you cannot give to a newborn baby. You wouldn't give sleeping pills to your newborn after birth so please don't give them to him/her now. What you take your baby takes too. You should never take anything over-the-counter or otherwise without your doctor's consent. Your prenatal care provider usually gives you a list of over-the-counter things that are ok during pregnancy. Please ask and best of luck to you and baby. Absolutely not. You don't want to be taking anything even remotely like that while pregnant. And any decent doctor in his right mind wouldn't give you one either...if he did...seriously consider switching doctors... I had trouble sleeping in the new positions you have to sleep in while pregnant...but eventually you get used to it...and a few days with no decent sleep will knock you right out ...drug free. Trust me...pregnancy will suck the life out of you...you won't have trouble sleeping for long. I am NOT a doctor, but before taking ANY medication, ALWAYS consult a doctor (preferably YOURS) before TAKING ANY. As you know, WHATEVER you take, your baby takes too! So think of it this way: Do you want your baby taking this medicine as well? It will affect the development of the unborn child in ways only a doctor can tell you, so really, wait until you speak to a doctor. don't take chances always take precaution, ask a doctor. All meds got side affects and peoples immune system react differently. i say ask ur OB. they normally do not like u taking anything unless prescribed by them. I did it was long time ago , my doctor told me No. He gave me some kind of herbal stuff to relax me not but me to sleep. Once I had relax I was able to fall asleep. It had to do a lot with me stressing . If your stressed that can keep you up. This is known to be true. How long you are up while you are pregnant your training your baby . I didn't listen to a lot of older people and wish I had. I got up at 3AM and stayed Up till about 8AM. When I had my son he got up at 3AM and stayed up till about 8AM. Try to fins out why you are not sleeping so you will be healthy when your baby comes. God Bless You and Your unborn baby! My doctor gave me a list of medications that were fine to take during pregnancy. Benedryl which is also a sleep aide was on the list and is fine to take. Just take the recommended dosage. Don't overdo it. doctor told me NO sleeping pills at ALL HELL and NO I'm currently 7 months pregnant and I can tell you that no, you should not take sleeping pills while pregnant or anything over the counter unless recommended by your doctor. In my experince, my doctor recommends only Tylenol. Do not take any medicine that says anti-inflammatory. Hope this helps. My OB/GYN told me it was safe to take Tylenol PM to help me sleep and NOTHING ELSE! my doctor has me taking unisom every night (mostly to help with nausea) i started doing this at about 8 weeks along and i'm now 23 weeks and both me and the baby are fine just make sure that whatever you decide the doc okay's it |
