Will I experience some sort of withdrawl if I stop taking tylenol everyday, after doing so for almost 3 years?

I have been taking tylenol PM for 3 years so that I could sleep. Yes, I know how horrible that is. Anyway, I have finally started taking a sleep aid that doesn't have the tylenol, (I started yesterday.) but was just curious if I will experiece some kind of withdrawl. I kid you not when I say non-stop for 3 years. When they came out with the Advil PM, I tried it for a few nights, but associated it with a stomach ache that kept occuring so I stopped. I didn't think of it at the time, but maybe the stomach ache was some sort of Tylenol withdrawl.

Either way, I am going through with no longer taking it. I had a wake up call when I recently was sick with high fevers and tylenol was doing nothing for me, but ibuprofin was knocking the fever right out. A ER nurse told me that the Tylenol may not have worked cuz I take too much tylenol...(she didn't even know about my "problem.") so I think she was right.

I have heard it can cause headaches but you should stop. Too much Tylenol (acetaminophen) can cause liver damage.

acetaminophen is the scientific name.

in case you don't know, overdose of tylenol will cause liver damage. have you had your liver checked lately?

it is not an addictive drug, that is why it you can buy it over the counter. it is unlikely to cause withdraw, either.

tylenol pm and advil pm has chemicals that are for pain, unless you have the pain every night. it is not ideal to take them every night to help you to sleep.

you should go buy some real sleeping pills. and best way is just to exercise daily. that will help you sleep in no time. can you image yourself running 20 miles, and still can't fall asleep? impossible. of course, that is an exaggeration.
