What is out there to help people get reeducated when they are unemployed?

My boyfriend was a carpenter but he is almost 50 years old and he had so much pain he had to quit. What kinds of things are out there to help people get reeducated? If he is not working will he qualify for financial aid? I support him now. I make good money as a nurse. Will they ask for my income?

There is federal grant money available to go to college. I'm currently in the program. See your local unemployment office for details. They didn't care about my wife's income, just the fact that I was unemployed and needed to get some certifications to get reemployed...

check your local reeducation center, if you have no luck there, big brother will help you, they are plusgood.

Only if you are married will your income matter. Financial Aid will be based on his last years income taxes. Being unemployeed now unfortuantely will not help him.
As for what to pursue, unless he is willing to go for the long haul to earn a college degree, then another trade would be the best option.
Community colleges offer alot of programs to aid certification in a trade, such as a plumber, a paramedic, general contractor, real estate agent, etc.
