I recently had a mole removed...are my symptoms normal?

Thursday,I had a mole removed...to see if i had cancer again...and the nurse told me that i had to keep a band aid on it with vaseline on the stitches...and change it when i took a shower.....and now the wound and the area around it is EXTREMELY itchy and i'm getting little and big red bumps around it....normal or should i call the dermatologist back?

call the dermatologist no advice on her will be correct as most of us are not doctors so get professional advice

its ok. i had a mole removed on my foot and back a few weeks back and my foot itched like mad! but it was all okay, and im good to go!

Call the Doctor! But it could just be the Bandage, lots of people get reactions from bandages. Good Luck I hope your tests come back with no Cancer.

Call the dermatologist back. It seems like you may have an infection in the incision and probably need antibiotics. You may need a test to see if it's a gram-negative or -positive infection to determine which type of antibiotic to use or the doctor may decide which microbe is the likely cause and proceed from there.

If it's not an infection, it could be an allergic reaction to the anaesthetic the doctor used to freeze the site or to the material that compose the stitches or to the plastic bandage or to the adhesive on the bandage.

I would call the dermatologist or another doctor about this. The itchiness can be a part of healing, but the red bumps I am not sure about. Since you say you had cancer "again", I suggest that you are not a "normal" risk person and need to get this checked out by someone so that you know what is going on.

Wash it gently with soap and water. Rinse it good. Pat dry, leave it open to air or cover it loosely with something breathable like a 2x2 gauze. You had too much moisture most likely. After those removals, you already have drainage. I would think the vaseline would trap those secretions.
