I need help on some of these Romeo and Juliet questions.
1. Romeo says, "here's much to do with hate, but more with love" to Benvolio when he sees that there has been a street fight. Explain what the hate and love is to which Romeo refers in this line.
2. Paraphrase Montague's description of Romeo's behavior in Scene i, lines 122-146. Use text aids to help you understand Montague's speeches, then explain his speeches in your own words.
3. Explain how Capulet feels about his daughter Juliet getting married. Citing details from the play.
4. Identify the issue that Lady Capulet wants to discuss with Juliet in Scene iii. Explain why Lady Capulet asks the Nurse to leave. then asks her to come back.
5. Describe Juliets response to her mother's announcement that Paris wants to marry her. Explain what Juliet's response tells you about her character. citing details from the play.
6. Describe Tybalt's reaction to realizing that Remeo us attending the Capulet's party. ok first i believe that he is saying that he if spending to much time fighting with the capulets when he could be out getting laid. ok, probably not what shakespear meant, but it fits it well.
um, i believe that the old man montague is saying that romeo is depressed and spending to much time alone being love sick over a girl who isn't actually in the play at all. the grove a sycamore isn't really a place it is a metaphor for sorrow.
at first capulet believes that his daughter is to young to get married. which is why he says "two more summers wither in their pride, err we think her ripe to be a bride" or something like that basically he's saying give her two more years before we talk about marraige. when tybalt dies he is worried about her because she is spending way to much time crying over her cousin, he thinks it unhealthy, which if it weren't for the fact it was her husband she was crying over not her cousin, it probably would be unhealty. anyways so he thinks that getting married will cheer her up, but instead of calmly saying no thank you she gets emotional and he thinks it is an act of disrespect so he decides that she is either going to get married or get out of his house cause he's the boss and blah blah blah.
lady capulet is wanting to discuss men with the girl but she decides that since the nurse has raised her daughter there is really no reason to send her off when she is going to be needing her help to get ready for the ball anyways. (not sure on this one, i may be making sh*t up.)
when juliet is first told of parises marriage purposal she really doesn't care one way or another, i mean she is thirteen and happy with her life and hasn't ever thought about a man or a husband she's just content with the life she has. it says that she is little more than a child like her tempertanturm at being told she has to marry paris also shows that she is little more than a child use to getting her way.
ok and tybalt is upset about romeo being there because he thinks that he is there making fun of them, trying to cause trouble, in tybalts mind the only reason for a monteque to be at a capulet ball is to fight and tybalt likes to fight even if it is over an imaginary injustice. and the fact that capulet doesn't react much says that the fued might not be a serious as tybalt thinks it is. but youth has a way of blowing things out of porportion. |
