I have my 1st appointment tomorrow with an OB/GYN doctor, what should I expect?

Okay, so basically I'm 22 years old, and have been sexually active for 2 years, and haven't gotten a PAP test. I am married, and haven't gotten my period for about 4 months, which is why I finally had the courage to make an appointment. I made it online, and in the reason I put "missed period" what should I expect when I'm there in the office? As far as the PAP test, is it possible that I can get it right there on the spot, or would I have to make another appointment for that? Also, I wear hearing aids, and obviously I would like to wear them, but I get embarrased when a nurse checks my ears, not knowing that I have them on. Will a nurse check my ears? Or get straight to the point of my missed period? Also, my husband is going with me, and he knows that I'm very nervous about this, will it be okay if he goes in with me? Also, considering that it is a male doctor. Oh and one last thing, I may be pregnant, but have taken many tests and nothing, can i take a blood test tomorrow? thank you

Hi! I'm glad you're going to the OBGYN. Yes, you can get a PAP and a pregnancy test. Your husband can come in with you, and they probably won't check your ears. Ask all the questions you have, don't be shy, because they have heard it all!

This is a little guide to your first OBGYN visit. It's going to be no big deal! (Except for the pregnancy thing...!)

I would address the concerns with your doctor at the appt. But a full physical is necessary it seems, especially if you said missed period. They will do a vaginal exam, and prob a pap...Tell them about the HA, and I am sure they will ask you to take them out, or not bother...

I've never had my ears checked at an OB/GYN's office, so I wouldn't worry about that. Even if they do, any medical practitioner is used to seeing hearing aids and won't think that it's a big deal.

The doctor will probably do a pregnancy test, especially since you haven't had a period in four months. Be sure to tell them that you have had negative urine tests, and ask for a blood test. The rest of the appointment will probably depend on the results of the test. I've never been pregnant so I don't know what they do in a pregnancy exam, but a regular appointment will include a pelvic exam and PAP test.

Good luck!
