Choice between 2 careers?

I have to choose between working at a nursing home looking after the elderly, or a career in Humanitarian Aid. I love to look after people and help people. But at the same time I want to be respected and have a a challenging and intellectually satisfying career. But I love to work with people and I know I will enjoy a career at a nursing home.
What do you have to consider when choosing a career? I want to do what makes me happy, but how do I know which will make me the happiest. I'm in such a mess. I feel like choosing the nursing home, but then I wonder whether I'll be better at humanitarian work.
Please help.

well you need the money and i was a girl scout so we used to go to the nursing home a lot. i liked it too so maybe do what your heart wants and not your brain

i think you should work part time and take both jobs

and take the one that you will be happy with not hte one that earns the most money

Why dont you trying the nursing home first then if you dont feel your good at it go to the humanitarian work afterwards. Its not like you cant change your career if you dont like it. They dont lock the door behind you in the nursing home. Just go with the one you like the most to test it.

you can consider both the pros and cons.
which one gets you recognized , which one you seem to be better at. it all depends on your priorities.

however,you will not really know which one you're better in till you try them both, but i say, go with what you're most passionate about.

when you're passionate about something, everything changes.

if you're passionate with working with the elderly, in the long run you'll realize , even though it wont be as intellectually satisfiying and etc etc, you'll love what you do and be happy.

and vice versa with the humanitarian aid.

Try looking at websites where Nursing Homes and Humanitarian organizations list job openings, read the requirements for the jobs. This should give you some ideas. If all else fails, talk to a college counselor.

Go into medicine or into psychology with a specialization in gerontology. This is a wide-open field, and you will be able to help in ways you haven't even dreamed of yet.
