When did you stop working?

what month were you in when you stopped working. im a nurses aid and its a pretty hard and dirty job with all the lifting and stuff. i just wanted to know when i get pregnant when i should stop working. is it ok to lift that much and be around sick people?

It varies from person to person and pregnancy to pregnancy. You'll know when you need to stop working. Don't put too much stress on yourself and if work is doing that then you should stop working.

I think it's until 8 months when you could get your dis. checks.Your not supposed to do heavy lifting so you need to talk to your boss and let him know you can't do that.Or get a doctor's note.Your back must be killing you in the night.Well take care of yourself.

Lifting heavy things is okay when you're pregnant, as long as you do it correctly... especially if you're already used to lifting heavy things. At some point your belly will stick out too much though to be able to lift certain things. We're currently moving (I'm 27 weeks pregnant) and there are certain items that I normally would carry but now don't. There's an increased risk of having some back problems if you lift heavy stuff during (late) pregnancy, which might mean bedrest, but the baby should be fine. Basically, do it as long as you can do it comfortably.

As to the germs and diseases... I'd think that if you'd had your job for a while already you'd have been exposed to almost all of them before and have built up a good resistance, and you'd likely be fine. But if you just started your job and/or get ill due to your job frequently, then I'd recommend staying home to protect the baby. Most illnesses won't directly cause harm, but high fevers can and your body will need extra nutrients to fight a disease *and* grow a baby, which would be especially hard to do if you were vomiting or such at that.

I didn't have a job but I dropped out of school at the end of the second month... I was too exhausted and nauseous and having some emotionality/mood swings that didn't help either. Aside from that, I was planning to be a sahm anyway, so I didn't see much of a point of staying in.

I would think it varies from person to person and job to job. I know I was reading the other day that when you are in your 3rd trimester you should not lift more than 15 pounds. You should really seek advice from your OB/GYN and see what they say. I work in an office..desk job with no heavy lifting and I worked up until the day I had my daughter. I worked that day and had her that night at 1030pm. Good luck to you.
