Disability in nursing home? |
My father is in a nursing home & is on medicaid. The nursing home has already filed for social security disability for him so I was wondering how long it typically takes for him to start getting money? I know he will be aproved. Also, I heard that the nursing home will take all his disability back pay for "past rent" is this true??? Is there any way we can get around this because he has no money & needs so much stuff that I cant afford either. If we tell the nursing home that he owes money to us are they obligated to pay us? I only say that because I would rather them give me the money he "owes" so I can buy him stuff he needs....thanks to any and all answers!! According to my sister, the majority of SSDI claims - even a whole bunch of valid ones - are denied out of hand, and you have to fight, sometimes for years - to get approved. If he DOES get approved, plan on at least six months. the nursing home will be ahead of you in the line for money on this. The nursing home will suck him dry. But they will not charge more than he has. Your best bet is too always be around nearby to check on him and visit him. That is all he needs. You can go online and find things to look for when visiting that may signal some neglect. If you do get a lawyer. |
