I inherited 2 dogs from a patient who is dying, I need to find them a good home together, please help!?

I am a hospice nurse and one of my patients has 2 older chihuahua cross dogs who need to find a new home. They need to be together, Jack and Jill have been together all their lives and would die of lonliness if they were seperated. They are indoor pets, very well housebroken and a bit spoiled. I have 3 dogs of my own and cannot have any more where I live. I would be willing to deliver these little guys to anywhere in Southern New Mexico or West Texas just to see to it that they are in a loving home together. Please contact me via my Yahoo page and help me keep my promise.

Hello, you have disabled IM and email, so this is the only way I can get in contact with you....

this is a no kill rescue that will find good homes for the dogs:
Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary

144 Wyatt Drive
las cruces, New Mexico 88005
Phone: 505-527-4544
Fax: 505-527-9920
Email: Safehaven@zianet.com

I used to live in Las Cruces, BTW! =) Not anymore, though... now I'm in MN.

well i think the patnt gave them to you then there your responsibilty to find them a good home

Have you searched for Chihuahua rescue? A breed-specific rescue organization has the members and facilities to check out potential homes and sometimes even waiting lists of approved homes/people wanting to adopt. They will have a website & post photos of the dogs along with their history and need to stay together. Also someone wanting to adopt will probably contact the rescue organization as a first step in their own search.
Perhaps you could foster the dogs until they locate a new home for them?

You should find a local rescue organization that can help you out.

well since i foster for a rescue organization i would say check out local rescue organizations in your area and see if they will take them and have them rehomed together . make sure that they know that the rehoming them together is a major issue and it should be done absolout. they will try to help as best they can if they are anything like my organization .

I wish I lived closer to you...I would give them a good home with lots of love. Good luck

I would definetly visit the home get their information address phone number keep it and agree with them that you will be visiting again in a few months as well as an agreement that you will get the dogs back if they change their mine. You shouldn;t have any problems finding good chis homes, Put an ad up at stores as long as you check with the families I have heard horror stories about people posing as loving homes and then selling the dogs to reasearch.

My mom is a hospice nurse too, and I think you guys do an amazing job.

Can you foster the little doggies until they are adopted? I found this rescue organization which looks really good. (They only adopt to families after they have done a home check.) Contact them and see what they can do for you. I am sure they will make sure the dogs get adopted together.
