Cancer is taking her?

My Grandma was diagnosed with Lung Cancer on Oct.1st, 2007. She had 2 sessions of Chemo and gave up. She is now scary-skinny, and very weak. She is on oxygen, and my grandma is now going to be seeing a hospice nurse. She knows her time is soon, with the cancer spreading to her liver and she is only 63! How can i stop feeling sad. (see my aim profile: Norfolk 722). If you can, email me or Instant message me with ways to cope. She is my best friend, and i dont think i can humanely cope with her soon-to-be- loss.

thanks,

Greetings Alissa

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother. You are right she is young. Cancer is scary, chemo is hard, and lung cancer is one of the worst ones to treat successfully.

Feeling sad is normal, you might feel like crying, then angry, then very hurt she is leaving or left you. It's all normal part of the grieving process.

Some people don't know ahead of time when someone is going to die and they wish they could say so much to their loved one. You have that time right now to say things you want her to know.

I lost my best friend Kat to lung cancer 6 years ago. We grew up together, like sisters. We even both had cancer together, I survived, she didn't. I still cry and feel sad. It was 6 years ago last week, she died right before Thanksgiving and her funeral was the day before. It was very hard. I felt lost, empty, sad, tearful and also angry. I was mad because she left me, mad because it wasn't right to die at just 42. It's very hard to lose people you love.

Alissa, she will always be in your heart, you can always talk to her even tho she can't reply, she will hear you from above. Do things to memorialize her, make a webpage about her, keep a journal of memories, keep a picture book, but most of all right this minute, spend time with her while she is here and talk to her, listen to her stories, tell her you love her.

If you want to talk to me, or when the time comes for her to go into the light, feel free to contact me.

I am not trained in human loss, but I'm a pet loss grief counselor and I've gone through a similar experience.

HUGSSSSSS. Tina

I'll pray for you. And i rarely do pray but in this instance, we both need it for our friends.
You sound like a great grandkid. Im 35 year old father of 3 in MI. I have a 15 year old son and he just lost a 19 year old uncle to drug OD. We all need the prayers.

Mike

This is a very tough time. Find people who are supportive of you. You need to be able to talk, cry and just not always have it together. Our family has had lots of losses and each one was very tough. Everybody would do better if they stuck together. If you don't feel you have enough support, ask hospice about support groups and other supports they have.

You are going to feel sad. If you didn't, then you didn't have a close relationship with your grandma. Tell your teacher also what is happening. Everyone needs to understand that you will de distracted for a while.

I just lost my mum to cancer she was 60. She was diagnosed with kidney cancer in may, by the time they found it the cancer had spread to her liver and lung. She pasted away sept 7 after only a 4 month battle. It was very aggressive and stripped her of all dignity and life. The pain is intense, my Mum was my best friend.. it was so sudden and such a shock i miss her terribly. email me we can support each other.
