How do you report a horrible Hospice care worker?

My grandfather just passed away, everyone talks about how hospice is so wonderful. We had a fairly nice nurse but she quit and we recieved a Terrible nurse in her place. She was cold, uncaring. She told us on wed the 26th he did not need hospice, just a dementia hospital and could live another year, (despite his daughter telling her, her father was VISIBLY failing) Even the assisted living home residents would ask us if my grandfather was failing but the care worker told my mom she was being stupid(seriously) 2 days later at the insistence of the care workers at the assisted living home, She returned and said " oh he probly has only 2 weeks to live. He died 3 days later. She never came or called till he died. Came down to "pronounce him" but never touched him, yes he was dead but she could have at least pretended to check him. Then sat there next to my grandfather and asked us if we could find her the phone book so she could call the funeral home?????? WHat

I believe my grandfather did not like her either. He was still aware the last time she was there. He was not talking but if you asked him a question he would answer so he could still hear and respond somewhat. She was talking in front of him about how his breathing might change and how the "process goes". We asked her to step outside. He does not need to hear that he will start to raspy breath before the end. Geez.

man some people have no heart and no manners.well if reporting her to the agency for where she came doesnt work then report her and the agency to the state.you should ask your local social services agency for these numbers, elder abuse hot line,if paid by medicare then get that number too.social services should have a few numbers to give you,you could look up on the internett for info too.im a care taker and id never accept any behavior like that from no one.it might be hard to prove her disposition to her boss, so like i mentioned before talk to the state if the hospice wont do anything and let them know this, and watch how fast they do something(hospice).its unfortanate that we have people like this in our socity, and its sad that your grandfather had to spend his last days with such a negitive, heartless, inhuman, waste of a human being.i hope for his sake that he was out of it enough to not know what was going on,how sad.if all else fails you can always get word of mouth out to the puplic about her-just watch slander.and believe in your heart that she will get hers, she'll be that age one day:o)well im about in tears,i got to go.best of luck, and god bless.

report her to the agency she was sent from she needs to be fired i work in a nursing home and those people are like family to me

I'm so sorry for your loss. Possibly you could find out if there is a risk management affiliate associated with the hospice facility.

Complain to her supervisor. If you get nowhere with that, file a complaint with your state's nursing board. Some people who are in nursing were not meant to be there and their negative attitude reflects that. I'm sorry about your grandfather and your loss of him. Hopefully he didn't receive that attitude from the nurse or at least wasn't aware of it.
