Hospice nurses... what do you love most about your job? |
Hospice nurses... what do you love most about your job? I used to be a Hospice nurse and people always asked me how I could deal with the fact that I take care of dying patients. Well, first of all it was my job to care for the sick. Second, I learned so much about life through my patients. Lastly, I had the privilege of making them as comfortable and pain free as possible, sometimes holding their hand in the last moments of life. The families were usually incredibly supportive and thankful as well. I think being a hospice nurse is prob. one of the most rewarding specialties in nursing. It gave me a new perspective on life and to be grateful for things I had taken for granted. Being allowed to partake in someone's sickness and eventual death was an honor more than a job. adrenalin |
