What do Homecare and Hospice nurses do for the patients? |
I was just wondering, i hear about all the great work they do, but not so sure on "what they do". homecare and hospice helps clients with adl's skills can help in reabilitation and help with the dieing in there home or nursing homes. its to make the client more indepent or have them get some extra care that they might not be reciving . they also help with emotional and the mental status of the family and client. its a big caring and trained team of nurses aids social workers and pt and ot personel all so lots of information with these agencys on anytype of medical situations. alot of the time they even have volenteers that help with rides or just being there to keep the ill company. great program homecare and hospice with hospice too they make sure that the dieing have there way out of this world in no pain so help alot with medication so the dieing r not suffering and the family and friends can spend quality time with the hospice client. its deffintaly the way to go out watch them die slowly Homecare nurses come in and bathe a person, do any kind of medical treatments that need to be done, they do housework also. Basically anything you need them to do. home care can be anything - help with bathing to giving shots, taking blood for tests, hooking up and monitering IV's and hospice is that (if a nurse) or just being there to help the family in anyway they can - moral support during a difficult time Well, my mom works for a hospice, though I don't know much about homecare. Hospice nurses have training in how to manage pain effectively in the terminally ill. They also help the patient and family deal with the different stages of dying. They do everything from bathing(showering) dressing, feeding, assisting with toileting to supervising medications. They can also determine when a person needs to be seen by a doctor. They help the family to cope in this difficult time. It really is a lot of hard work especially if you have many patients (clients) on the same day! Hospice comes in when a family member is about to die. They help the family prepare with the death. If there is kids they give you books on how to explain death to the kids and the grieving process. Home care and hospice nurse can be both .Home Care is just in homes and Hospice nurses can work in the home if a hospice patient lives there and that is where they have decided to died at home, be cause that is what a hospice patients is someone that is going to died or just gave up on liveing because they are so sick . |
