I am considering going back into hospice nursing after having left over 7 years ago. I?

am now a state inspector for nursing homes. I have found the job to be punitive and the process very negative and as creating a hostile atmosphere. I miss my hospice nursing and the good I felt i was doing as well as the connection with the patients and their families. My struggle is this: I left hospice for a less stressful job and while some stress was resolved by this new stresses developed, no job is perfect and I realize this I just want to do something positive with my life and feel that hospice is a more positve force than enforcing government rules that I don't always agree with.
Sounds like i have answered my own question! I guess I would like support in my decision to return to hospice. If anyone has another take on this please let me know.
The pay and benefits are better working for the government and I am on my own financially so that is also a consideration but I find myself so unhappy and unfullfilled. Thanks to all who read this.

Go back to hospice! My mom's friend is a hospice nurse, and she wouldn't have it any other way. Yes, it can be stressful and sometimes tearful, but the job is way more rewarding in the end. And the pay and benefits aren't that bad, at lest they're better than what most people make these days.

Go back to hospice. You sound like this is something that you really liked doing. Money is always nice to have but its not good enough if you are unhappy.
