Why do nursing homes call in hospice?

Why do nursing homes call in hospice?

hospice is used in LTC because those who are near the end need to have someone with them, i know i would want a caring nurse there with me! in my opinion, hospice nurses are great, caring, and special people. it takes a special kind of nurse to be there for so many at the end.

because hospice people are trained to deal with dying people.... nursing home personnel don't have the time to be calm and stay with the dying

Hospice is for patients with life threatening and/or fatal conditions to be able to live at home for long periods of treatment and (in the cases of fatal conditions) so they can die at home with their families instead of in a hospital room.

Because these people are trained to deal with not only the person dieing, they also help the survivors. They have access to many different programs that do help.

To get the medicines and care established for 'end of life care'. Nursing homes don't have the personnel, training or time to do hospice care. Hospice will often offer counseling to family members and other things like that as well.
A nursing home is to give varying levels of care to the living. They give medicines, schedule or deliver therapies, and do life-care rather than administer end of life care. It'sa fine line with a huge difference.
