this my assignment question that i have to argue against can anyone please help me find some journals or other information related to this topic thanks Sadly I believe that is true. To me it appears you can be a dumb inconsiderate bossy inattentive incompetent as*hole of a nurse and still be a "Nurse". There are some amazing nurses out there but I don't think it has as much to do with their education it has to do with who they are as people. I work closely with nurses and see it everyday. Thank goodness I don't have to answer to them.... I just pray I never become their patient! It is a good question, but sadly I don't think you will find much in regards to a study. I am a nurse of over 20 years and I can tell you I believe I was born to be a nurse. I announced I was going to be a nurse when I was 5 years old and never wavered in that decision. I have a 13 year old who is still searching for her "passion", but sadly I do not believe it will be medicine. I now work on the business side of nursing, but still have an impact on patients. They may not know I even exist or am helping them the way a floor nurse does, but nevertheless still consider myself a full fledged nurse. The nurses that are born to be nurses I think are better nurses.
Best of luck in your search for the answer, but I suggest you look more at interviewing nurses and asking them why they became nurses. I think you will find more than enough research to validate your theory. I always say when I forget why I became a nurse I will leave the profession. 20 years later I still have not forgotten why I do what I do. To help people with my knowledge and experience.
