How is it working part time while in the nursing program?

I'll be starting the program this fall in another state (as a non-resident). I'm going for the LPN first.. So do you think working part-time will be ok? I don't want to crash and burn but I also need money to live? any input pleeeease!
thank you.

oh, and one more thing.. the schedule is mon to thurs the whole day. So I have fri and sat off and sunday my church day. thanks again!

I was barely 17 when I had my youngest child. (Although I definetely don't recommend this to anyone, I wouldn't change a thing now. I love my little man!) Anyways, I worked full time while going to school full time, completed my 2 years of prereqs. and my first year of the RN program, and raised my son on my own. I did have family to babysit when I worked and went to school, but I lived on my own and I too had no choice but to work. It was honestly chaotic, often times I didn't feel like I could do it, but I just kept thinking to myself how proud I'd be of myself when I finished. Unfortunately, as I entered the 2nd year of the RN program I had to quit for a little over a year in order to get a higher paying job and to put a little extra money away so that I only had to work part time when I returned. Working full time for me in the last year was just to crazy. I didn't know if I was coming or going and found myself breaking into tears almost every day. I did just that, and reentered the program and graduated in 2003. (It was definetely doable working part time). I have been working as an RN now for almost 5 years! It's truely a rewarding career, but has it's stressful times too. Good luck to you!!!!

it will be hard and exhausting, but so much worth it just stay focuses and every spare time you have study.

I know an LPN whose experience may be able to help you. You can reach her directly at 1-866-916-6509. Just say Jason sent you - You guys will probably have plenty to talk about!

Good Luck!

I think it is doable if you work two night per week like 5-9pm, and the weekends for a couple of hours that way you can still have sum income.

Good Luck
