I'm interested in Corrections nursing?

Currently, I work as an LPN in Florida. I'm interested in Corrections nursing. Can anyone give me advice and how to go about it.Thanks.

Are you referring to working for the state dept of corrections? How you go about it is apply to the Florida Dept of Corrections. My advice? Don't do it. The staff is thin, the work is hard, the hours are long (and, if it is like Texas, you don't get overtime pay, just "comp" time), and the inmates are gamers who will play you for all you are worth. In a prison setting, if an inmate asks for a Bandaid, you can't give it to him because, chances are, he is going to use it to hold a razor blade on a toothbrush handle to make a knife. I worked for TDCJ (Texas Dept of Criminal Justice) on the psych unit. Finally had enough when they decreed thereafter we had to address all inmates as "Mister". So I say, "Good morning, Mr. Brown" and he says "Hello, bit*h".....I don't think so. Find a job that at least has a little dignity instead of dirty, sweaty men exposing themselves to you on every medication run.

telephone the dept of corrections

Like in a prison? God bless ya! Can't imagine anyone wanting that career path or on their resume.

go for it... I worked 3 days at one several years ago. ugh hated it
