LVN's and LPN's....what type of facility?

do you work in? More demand in Nursing homes or in hospitals?

I'm a retired LPN and I've worked in both. LPNs also work in drs. offices. Nursing homes usually have a much higher percentage of LPNs than RNs.

Each state differs, but when I worked at a hospital I wasn't allowed to take a drs. orders over the phone. I had to get an RN to do that. However, at the nursing home I could take drs. orders over the phone. In general, LPNs are allowed to do more in nursing homes than they would in hospitals.

They are in demand at both types of facilities.

LPN moreso in a Skilled Nursing Facility.

I've worked in both, and find them completely different. Nursing homes can provide a wealth of knowledge and practice. Hospitals have that "acute care experience" that a lot of places will look for on your resume. It's easier to get a job in the Skilled Nursing Facilities, especially now, since most hospitals are looking for per-diem RNs. Also, look for a job with benefits. If you can get one off the bat, take it.

There is a shortage everywhere. I worked in a nursing home and cna are so short staffed that i could not do my job for having to do theirs as well. Now i work in a diaysis center and love my job
