ARE LPN's REspected?

or are they "little play nurses"?

It does not matter what career field one gets into, it does not matter what rank one has at work, and it does not matter what level of education one has attained, there will always be a bitter, unhappy, heartless, insecure, self-serving, egotistical, & miserable-excuse-for-a-human being there who will try to put others down. That鈥檚 just they way our world is. When someone resorts to put downs, that鈥檚 usually a reflection of how negative and inadequate they truly feel about themselves. They are just plain unhappy people.

Some N.P.s look down on M.S.N.s,
some M.S.N.s look down on B.S.N.s,
some B.S.N.s look down on A.D.N.s, and so on.
It's just ridiculous.

If you became a L.P.N. or R.N. because you are truly passionate about the true heart and art of nursing 鈥?to support patients who are too sick and weak to care for themselves, and have a genuine concern for humanity, then you don鈥檛 need someone else to validate your worth as a human being. You do what you do because in your heart and mind, it is the honest and moral thing to do. (I can only hope that these breed of nurses will still exist when I get old.)

In my opinion, titles after a name will get someone more pay, but it will not make anyone a better human being.

i think that they are, but maybe not as much as they should be. im an RN, have been for 12 years. when i did my first orientation, i was placed with an LPN that had 28 years of experience. I learned alot from this person. No amount of education can replace years of hands on experience.

sounds like you have some issues -start with respecting yourself.

I have been an LPN for 13 years. I have experience in medical/surgical, telemetry, geriatrics, psych, and orthopedics. I train new RN's right out of school. Do LPN's get the respect they deserve? No. I just interviewed for the position of the Director of Nursing at a local nursing home. I can do all this, but I'm still not respected as a nurse. Experience should count for something, but it doesn't. If you are thinking about nursing school, go for your RN. Don't be stuck in the same boat I'm in.

No

I THINK THEY ARE VERY MUCH RESPECTED.

No, they are "Licensed" Practical Nurses. They are a vital part of the medical profession.
