Which makes more money... A LPN or a Nursing Assistant???? And whats the difference???? |
Im tryin to decide which career would be better for me. Do NOT listen to Kate. An LPN is a nurse and depending on where you choose to work you can supervise an Rn. I am an LPN and I am the ADON of a long term care facility. A nurse is a nurse. You all have the same goals, to care for your patient. A CNA (nursing assistant) does not pass meds or have much medical training. They are the basic caregiver for meals, showers, bathroom etc. A CNA takes approx 3 months to become "certified", an LPN takes 13 months of school and then you can apply to sit for your State Boards. As an LPN I make $57,000 a year salary. As a CNA you can expect to make around $7-$10 per hour. Hope this helps. A LPN makes more money than a nursing assistant, difference LPN stands for Licensed Practical Nurse which means more medical education I believe a LPN makes more money. I know you have to go to school longer to be a LPN, so it makes since that they might make more money. Probably depends on the location , I agree with the above comment. I just graduated as a LPN and I know that around here in Michigan, a nursing assistant makes around $10 an hour, and a LPN can make as much as $24-30 an hour, especially in the Nursing Homes. I, personally am considering a doctor's office starting $17 an hour, full-time, benefits and all. I would definately choose LPN over Nursing Assistant. You also have a better chance of becoming an RN through certain articulation programs within just one year of schooling! Then you bump up your pay another $10-15 an hour. The need for nurses are high, whether you are an LPN or RN. Good luck with your choice, once you become a nurse, you will ALWAYS be a nurse. Very Rewarding :-) LPN is more schooling and more responsibilities. They get paid more also. nurses make more than cna's do but it is a start towards your career if you are deciding to become a nurse for experience in healthcare. |
