1) Is licensed practical nursing (lpn) and nurse aide almost the same thing?

2) Do Lpns really get to do the dirty work?
3) which hospital in California do you think is best for LPN applicants? Any hospital in Sacramento in particular?

What is a CNA? will an lpn still do dirty work if they don't work in elderly homes?

Not really. An LPN is a professional who has gone through considerable education and training. A nurse aide, although very important to the process, doesn't go through nearly as much education or training, and although is not qualified to determine provision of care services, is mostly responsible to provide care services. A nurses aide makes very few decisions, while the LPN takes charge of care plans. Think of the LPN as the "nurse in charge" of the CNA's. LPN's do a lot of "dirty work", also. I have an LPN that works for me in my rest home for the elderly. I don't employ CNA's, I employ CMA's (certified medication aides). I'm sorry, but I don't know anything about California hospitals or Sacramento. Have a great day.

Lpn's and nurse's aid are no where close to being the same. Lpns do some dirty work, but they get paid from 2-3 times what the nurses aid's get paid.

No they are not the same. An LPN is higher up ot he food chain. LPNs provide treatments and distribute meds. An aide, baths, changes bedpans diapers, etc.. of the patient.

Unsure of the market in CA...

nope, an lpn has the same duties as an Rn excluding IV push meds and caring for ventilator dependant patients. (your state laws may vary, but ca and fl are very similiar) any good nurse does some of the dirty work.

No.

A LPN doesn't make as much money or get quite as much responsibility as an RN, but they make more money and have higher responsiblity than an Aide.

i worked at UC DAVIS MEDICAL CENTER in SACRAMENTO....good pay great hospital
