Cat had kittens....What next!?

My cat had two kittens some time between 1:00am 鈥?7:00am this morning. She had 2 kittens in the sofa (sectional sofa with a recliner on the end, flap is on the back of the recliner to stretch when the recliner is in use) I can look in and check on her. I think she will have only 2 kittens, I have put food in which she ate and water. She is sleeping and the kittens are nursing fine. Should I leave where she at? Should I get her out and clean her up? I have four other cats, (1) female (spayed), (2) males (neutered), and the daddy who is a white Persian and was told to me he was neutered. I accepted 2 cats from a client of mine, one is a Himalayan and Bailey the Persian, she told me both had been neutered. Well Bailey was not. My cats do not go outside. Bailey is going to be neutered this weekend, how soon can TG (mom) be spayed.

I do not know what to do now with them and the other cats. The other cats are wonderful, they do not fight, they all get along very well.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. This is her first litter.

WELL MAKE SURE SHE AND THE KITTENS ARE COMFORTABLE KEEP THE FATHER AND ALL CATS AWAY FROM HER I SAY THAT BECAUSE MALE CATS OR FEMALE WILL MAYBE KILL THEM OR ATTEMPT TO...MAKE SURE THAT YOUR HOUSE IS WARM (BUT NOT TO HOT OR TO COLD)
YES LEAVE HER WHERE SHE IS AFTER A MOTHER HASED HAD BABIES ITS BETTER TO LEAVE THEM ALONE THEY CAN BE GRUMPY AT TIMES.BUY SOME KITTEN FOOD WHEN THE KITTENS ARE DONE NURSING WHEN THERE LIKE 6-8 WEEKS GET THEM TO GET THERE SHOTS ALL OF THEM AND IF YOU WOULD LIKE YOU CAN SELL THEM MAKE SURE THAT WHEN YOU BUY FOOD FOR THE KITTENS ITS HEALTHY AND THE VETENARIAN RECCOMENDS IT BECAUSE SOME FOOD THE CATS AND OTHER ANIMALS EAT AFFECT THERE HEALTH AND THEY LIVE VERY SHORT HEALTH AND DONT THINK I DONT KNOW WHAT IM TALKIN ABOUT IM A VETENARIAN.. ANOTHER THING IS MAKE SURE YOUR KITTENS DO NOT GO OUTSIDE UNTIL THERE DONE NURSING I UNDERSTAND THAT YOU SAID THE OTHER CATS ARE NICE BUT KEEP THE OTHER CATS AWAY FROM THE MOTHER AND KITTENS ESPECIALLY THE MALE CATS ....GOOD LUCK.

You could have looked to see if he was neutered. It is usually pretty obvious with the boys.
If you don't care where she is and the kittens are safe you can leave her where she is and just change her bedding. She will clean herself up. If not then get a good size box with a blanket and move them to where they will be safe.
Mom will have to wean her kittens before she gets spayed. That will be about 6 weeks. Get her spayed ASAP after weaning because she will go into heat again fairly soon after. Plus you run the risk of her getting Pyometra which is an infection of the uterus.

hey cat lover, just dont bother about yr cat, tho 2 kittens is unusual. dont force anything on her she'll let u know when she's hungry. prepare a litter box for her and transfer the kittens there after a day or u stand to mess up the sofa.cats are wonderful mothers. see if u can keep the other cats away just as a measure of caution. also if u prefer give away the kittens when they are a month old - too many cats can be a problem.

You need to move her to a place where the other cats won't get the kittens. Usually cats have about 5-6 kittens so I would look for more. You might have her checked by a vet. Make sure she has extra food so she can make milk for her babies.

I agree she needs to be fixed asap after weaning her babies.

Good Luck!

congratulations! firstly she can be spayed about 6-7 weeks after birth of kittens that is when they are weaned. if you phone local vet they will tell you the best time and don't charge for phone info. secondly don't move the kittens mummy might not like it make sure that she has as much food as she needs wet kitten food in pouches is best as it has more Cal's and she will need the Cal's to feed the babies.plenty of fresh water and maybe some cat milk and a dish of dry food too in case she fancies it. as a rough guide she may eat up to 4-5 pouches of the wet food a day it sounds a lot but she will eat what she needs.
as for your boys if you feel where testes should be if they are there then they are fully functioning. it is or they are easily found .lol
good luck

Less kittens are more common with first litters.

Personally, I would wait about 8-12 weeks before getting her spayed, or until she decides to ween the kittens on her own. They longer they nurse, the more social they will be towards other cats as they age. Though unfixed male cats do occasionally kill kittens, most cats are actually really good around babies. I've had older females "babysit" little kittens for a mother. Once when I was raising orphaned kittens, I had a male cat who adopted the litter and cleaned them, helped them poop and urinate, and kept them warm for me. So I would say, just know your cats.

She will probably move them herself in a little bit. If you want to encourage her to use a box (to save your sofa) that's acceptable. But in my experiences, most cats end up picking their own spot in the end.
