Women only please. health question?

When a female goes to her gp for a check up, is it ok for a male doctor to examine her chest area without the presence of a female nurse?

it is i did but they should ask you if you want a nurse present as my dr did for me

Yes, if you're ok with that, but you can request the presence of a female if you wish. Alternatively, ask if you can make an appointment with a lady gp if you're embarrassed about the situation.

Yes.But if you feel uncomfortable with it you can request a female nurse be present.

no doctor i no will do this now without a female nurse or doctor present if your not happy with this ask to see the nurse instead,

yes, i think so, unless you request otherwise!

Yes. Of course. But if you have been made to feel AT ALL violated, tell someone.

if its OK with you if not insist on a nurse all GP are required to respect the wishes of the peasant.
most ask if its OK first.

i don't think they are meant to, my doc always has a nurse in the room when examining

usually they will have a female nurse in there just for lawsuit reasons. its really your decision though. if you feel uncomfortable say something about it.

Usually a nurse is present during an exam of the breasts and/or for any vaginal one. Yes a nurse should be present, and you can request that also. check into it with your doctors office. I have had my family doctor for over 15 yrs, and he still to this day has a nurse present during my exam.

yes

I work in the healthcare feild. It is definaltely not ok for a male to be examining anything on a female without another female present. If the doc had asked you if you were ok with it before hand it would be a different story. This is not ok though and you should make sure that you bring it to someones attention, even if it is just a nurse in the office, someone needs to be told so that you are sure they know. From now on, I would refuse to be alone during examinations with no female present.

It depends on the facility's policy. Many hospitals and clinics have adopted a policy to have a female accompany male practitioners for liability reasons and patient comfort. It is not required however.

Yes but only if youy are ok with this

Yes. I think it should be made a law that ONLY male doctors get to do this type of check!

Don't lecture me about the 'women only' bit, you know that is like a red rag to a bull.

If he's just listening to the chest with a stethescope, you don't need to undress, therefore don't need to have a female nurse there. If he's doing anything else, then yes, you insist on it.

most doc have a nurse in the room when any kind of physical exam is done to protect you and him/herself. You always have the right to ask for a nurse to be in the room.

There should always be female nurse present no matter what.

if thats ok with you then yes, if it isnt, then you can request a female doctor, dont be worried about offending the male doctor as this is a very common request.

I agree if you ok with it the male doc will go ahead, but you have every right to ask for a female to be present. Oh as someone else said ask for female doc if you are going to feel uncomfy.

i wouldn't be happy with that no

yes, its fine

No, they should make sure a female is in the room, another nurse or doctor. Regards
