Does a medical professional's sexual orientation affect your view of them?

I've seen male patients express discomfort with gay nurses without warrant. Would women be comfortable with lesbian doctor? Any more or less comfortable than a straight male doctor? I really don't know.
Based on experience I know gender is definitely a factor. Sometimes a huge factor.

I know we don't. I am talking if you found out somehow, in some way.

Considering when I go, my legs are spread, in stirrups and my breasts are exposed, that's the least of my worries! LOL!

i feel more comfortable with a woman doctor because i'm a woman. i wouldn't care if she was a lesbian or not. i don't know how i would even KNOW her sexual orientation.

i would feel equally (un)comfortable with a male doctor who was gay as straight.

Huh? The doctors I have seen never discuss their orientation with me where are you going?

I am comfortable with any doctor no matter the sex or sexual orientation. The important factor is that they are competent and do their job well.

Yeah, in a good way. It seems that people who are gay and 'outside the norms of society' (in any way) are more likely to be open minded and accepting. And I really like that aspect. So, I would not mind having a gay male nurse, or a lesbian female doctor at all. I don't even care if my doctors are male or female though. I never understood why so many women freak out over having a male OB-GYN. I really don't care one way or the other.

if anybody is truly gay i shouldn't be able to tell them apart from any other person. it shouldn't be an issue. i don't care because i don't care about what they have sex with.

I believe a medical professional is professional and orientation shouldn't matter but I'm sure it does to some. Race, gender and sexual orientation are definite factors for some. Sexual orientation would be less obvious so probably would go unnoticed by most unless you know them personally.
