Why Are Nurses So Rude? |
I'm 19 y/o and I've been to so many doctors offices, womens clinics, and ERs in the passed 6 months for vaginal problems (bacterial vaginosis&vaginitis) its ridiculous. It's got me wondering why nurses (more than doctors) are rude to female patients who come in with vaginal problems. BTW when I had sex it was protected. I feel like these nurses are discriminating against me because I'm a female. im sorry to hear about how bad nurses have treated you, its really uncalled for, i have to say not all nurses are mean, my mom is a nurse and she loves helping people, she wanted to become a nurse because she loves taking care of people. Nurses are aware of how you feel. This is what annoys them. They are not going to treat you any different in comapasion to a person that has walked in with a bleeding nose. you are not going to get special treatment. I think this is what is upsetting you. No, sorry, I've not had this problem. I have seen nurses be a little bit inpatient about having to stand in to be "witness" to internal exams, but that's it.. With few exceptions, the only rude nurses I've meet were all ER nurses and they were rude about everything. Though I have to say, that to be able to do the job they do, I think many of them have to be a bit crass to get through the day, still doesn't make it right. I work in the medical field and let me tell you, they are not just rude when it comes to vaginal problems, for some reason they get a title added to their name and get a big head. But no nurse should talk to you that way, I would have reported her if i was you. Just remember, they are no better then you, you are there for help, not rudeness and resentment I agree with you 100%. There are incredibly bad nurses out there. I have had cancer and other health issues, so it's not just the nurses in the ob/gyn clinics. Unfortunately, nursing is a fast growing industry. Welfare women are often paid to go to nursing school so they can support themselves. This produces uncaring, rude nurses who wouldn't normally have gone into nursing. That said, my mother and sister are both nurses. They are very good, nice, empathetic nurses because they WANTED to be nurses; it wasn't for the money or to get off welfare. They are a rarity, though. I cannot answer why nurses are rude. But you do seem to be a bit defensive. And you do not need to be. =) stop sleeping around then! |
