Is this Mother Nature's way of saying that it's wrong?

My girlfriend is a nurse and has dealt with several male patients who have had a prolapse as a result of having regular anal sex. They will have to wear nappies for the rest of their lives.
Do you think this is mother nature saying that gay sex is wrong or is it a risk worth taking for a bit of bum fun?

Please note that I am merely asking a question and not stating my opinion.

Well done to all the dim wits who saw fit to give me the thumbs down. Like I said, I was not stating my opinion, merely asking a question. Next time I will ask something a little less challenging, like what is your favourite colour or song.
Knee jerk, do gooder, low IQ, lefties are bringing this country to it's knees. Well done to you all!!

Oh dear, am I going to have a prolapse then?

The human body was designed with procreation between the sexes and if it is used in the wrong way there can be consequences - like snapping a knife when you try to use it as a screwdriver

oh..never realised that that happened..i.m not gay but you do have to ask yourself..is it worth it

ummmmm i'm not sure. Does the same thing happen to female porn stars??? interesting question x

it makes sense. then again, why is the male G spot ther if its not natural?

That's a load of tosh.

Either they were all f*cked by men with unfeasibly large c*cks or they've been shoving something huge and unhealthy up there.

Normal anal intercourse is perfectly safe (providing, of course, that condoms are used to prevent the spread of any infection).

It takes rather a lot of anal sex to result in a prolapse. I suspect that the cases that your girlfriend has seen have been people that have taken part in some rather fetishistic practices that most gay men do not experience. Like you, Mother Nature is not sending any message about said practices. For my part, "bum fun" is not a risk as long as it does not involve unnecessary trauma.

To Bubble, yes it does happen to females as well. porn stars and others.
To answer you, no it isn't, a prolapse can happen for many reasons, and many gay people go through life not having one.
Also women can get a prolapsed womb, whats nature saying to us there then. That Vaginal sex and giving birth are unnatural??

If it wasn't your opinion why do you care about the thumbs down. Most people on here haven't attacked you, they've just stated that your point was innacurate. Didn't you ask for their opinion. Your added statement points to the fact that it probably WAS your opinion. For your info I did not give you a thumbs down, i'm not gay, not a do-gooder, and do not have a low IQ. I am however a left hander and my favourite colour is Purple...

Would you ask the same question of women who have vaginal prolapses after giving birth?
Or what about those women who lose bladder control?
Are the people who get cancer being punished for something?
Now what do you think?

I'm sorry to say it but the way you have worded your question and the fact that you have posted it here, in the GLBT section, indicates that this IS your opinion. I mean, how else would you come to that conclusion if you didn't have some pre-existing opinion on the matter?
Call me knee-jerk, left wing, tree hugger, hanging-is-too-good-for-me, whatever - I'm not in the same country as you so you can't blame me for bringing the country to its knees.

i would like to speak to your so called girlfriend about this issue
its is utter rubbish and you know it

There are taboos surrounding the various types of anal sex 鈥?and particularly anal intercourse.

These may arouse strong feelings of moral indignation, guilt and anxiety.
Statistics show that roughly 35 percent of heterosexuals and 50 percent of the gay community practice anal sex at least occasionally. Whenever anal penetration is taking place, you need three things: lubrication, condoms, and common sense.
It is important to remember that while some people find these activities repugnant, others may find them stimulating, exciting, and a normal part of their sexual intimacy.

Research shows that, whether we like it or not, the anal area is equipped with many erotic nerve endings 鈥?in both men and women. So it is not surprising that many couples (including a lot of heterosexual ones) derive pleasure from some form of 鈥榖ottom stimulation'.

What about infection? Most sexual activities carry a risk of transmission of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) from gonorrhoea and herpes, to hepatitis B and HIV. There is evidence that anal intercourse carries a higher transmission risk than almost any other sexual activity. (That is why one must always practise safe sex)

There is a common misconception that anal sex is practised almost exclusively by gay men. This is certainly not the case. An estimated one third of gay couples do not include anal intercourse in their lovemaking. About one third of heterosexual couples try it from time to time.

Anal sex, if practised with care, is possible for most couples.

The use of condoms and water-based lubricants, such as K-Y Jelly, will offer some protection. Other lubricants may cause condoms to split, as will over-energetic thrusting without adequate lubrication. Specially toughened condoms designed for anal intercourse may offer more protection.

The rectum is the temporary storage area for bowel motions. Rectal prolapse occurs when the rectum turns itself inside out and comes out through the anus. In the early stages, a portion of the rectum slips out while passing a bowel motion, but it goes back inside by itself. Women are six times more likely to suffer rectal prolapse than men. Children of both sexes under the age of three years are also commonly affected, although the prolapse tends to resolve by itself without the need for surgery.

What is the cause?
Chronic constipation
Straining to pass bowel motions
Weakened pelvic floor muscles
Weakened anal sphincter muscles
Weakening of the muscles may be associated with ageing, since rectal prolapse is more common in people aged 65 years and over
Genetic susceptibility, since it appears that some people with rectal prolapse have a blood relative with the same condition
Parasitic infection, such as schistosomiasis
Any condition that chronically increases the amount of pressure within the abdomen, such as benign prostatic hypertrophy, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Diet and lifestyle changes to treat chronic constipation; for example, more fruit, vegetables and wholegrain foods, increased fluid intake and regular exercise. This option is often all that's needed to successfully treat rectal prolapse in young children.
In cases of mucosal prolapse, the structures are secured in place with surgical rubber bands.

Surgery is sometimes used to secure the rectum into place, performed through the abdomen or via the anus. One operation involves tethering the rectum to the central bone of the pelvis (sacrum). Another operation is to remove the prolapsed part of the rectum and to rejoin the bowel to restore near-normal bowel function. While abdominal surgery may give better long-term results, elderly patients may be advised to undergo surgical correction via the anus, since it is easier to recover from this procedure.

Wishing thinking for most people who are anti-gay - but not likely.

Too much of anything can always be damaging. That's just the way things work.

Anal sex is neither an exclusively "gay" activity, nor is it engaged in by all gay or bisexual men. Therefore your question is faulty as it is based on the assumption that anal sex = gay sex, both inaccurate and untrue.

Additionally, several patients seems like a small number compared to the probable number of people who engage in anal sex overall.

Women get prolapses too from sex and being pregnant. I'm sure that's not mother natures way of telling us to stop procreating

no

nice additional details you gave...really showed your true colors there. let me give you another thumbs down.

Hmm well I suppose you could argue that all sex has a risk to it but basically if we're getting biological here, the **** really isn't made for gay sex is it. I wouldn't say it's mother natures way but just umm take it easy kind of thing.

first your assumption that all gay men have anal sex (we don't) shows your naivete. and secondly millions of straight people indulge in anal sex, so it's not a gay issue. as far as mother nature, homosexuality occurs in all species on the earth naturally. Mother Earth loves and protects all her children, even those bent on destroying her through greed and indifference.

Well, I gave you thumb up. I got it, it is not your opinion. It is an interesting question. I regret to hear this, I have many homosexual friends and did not know about such details. Wrong to have such sex? Then why men like anal sex with their women? Mother nature? I spoke to my friends, they do not perform homosexuality because it is modern to be 'different', but because they feel this way, man falls in love with a man, he feels he can perform sexual relationship only with man. So, mother Nature? Did you give up here as well?

I think you already have plenty of answers to your question...
I'm going to snaffle 2 points

PS. your additional details were damning... next time ask this in the medical section and phrase it in a non-offensive way

I agree with you that nature is saying "hold-on". I do not mind gays but the human race was not built for anal sex. perhaps all newborns should have "EXIT ONLY" tattooed on their bums

Apart from the good points raised in the answers above, you have to consider that your girlfriend is seeing a tiny minority of the people that have anal sex, gay or otherwise. Whether you realised it or not, millions of people are having "a bit of bum fun" as you so eloquently put it, and they are not all beating a path to the hospital doors.

I think that some sports have their injuries. That is a risk you take for doing whatever you want in life.

well i suppose you could say the same thing about women who get shagged too hard and get cystitis. is that natures way of telling them its wrong to get rammed five times a day?
