Gender bias?!?

Traditionally, nurses are females. However, "male nurese" is not an uncommon phenomenon. What is your opinon on "male as caretakers"?

I think nothing is wrong with a man being a worker at a child care center, a caretaker or anything similar. Men have compassion and sympathy and have nurturing qualities. University of Michigan's daycare employs men and I think that's healthy. They are all student teachers or majoring in child psychology and that's wonderful.

And if I made a crapload of money, I wouldn't mind if my husband stayed home with the kids and cooked and cleaned.

If you mean Care Taker as in one who looks after children, I would have no problem with it. Most however have a conception of the motherly intuition of women and so forth, with the whole Daddy's for fun and mummy's for business thing going about may mean people may not take you seriously.

Need more of them.

Worked as one for quite some time, and older men get downright mean and embarressed when a woman is taking care of them, it is good to have a male nurse around when this situation pops up.

My wife is a nurse, my son is a nurse and my daughter in law is a nurse. I think men can certainly function on an equal footing with females. The mastery of skills is the same for either sex and females don't have the market cornered in compassion. Some patients may even feel more comfortable with a male as a caregiver. Another plus is that men have traditionally been more forceful in demanding adequate pay and working conditions, where as many females have been more passive in accepting whatever management gives them.

Yeah I mean when you think of a caretaker you think of your mother. That maternal factor always hinders.I mean it might change soon.Just like women being firefighters and mechanics and stuff.People would eventually come around.
