Nursing a 6month old?

About 6 months ago, my cat had a litter of 5. We kept only 2, a male and female. My cat would hiss and scratch the male after about 3 months, but now she is pregnant again. I think she is ready to give birth, and the male kitten is sleeping and nursing off her nipples. She isnt attacking him or anything. What is going on?

i have no clue, but imagining that made me giggle

you need to get her fixed

please tell me he is neutered, because he will try to kill the kittens when they are born. OR he could have bred with the mother. Either way, she needs to be spayed asap.

Mommas boy.... short and simple.. I know it's hard to understand or believe but I've raised alot of kittens in my life and yes some old "kittens" will nurse when thier is more milk... it's distubing but normal. ^_^

So your poor cat is pregnant AGAIN only 6mths after having a litter !!!!

She isnt attacking him because she is feeling maternal

This is surprising because most cats will favor a new litter over their old one. I would be careful when she has the kittens, this older male cat may try to harm them in order to "keep his place". You may want to keep him away from the newborns.

Also, I would also recommend getting your cat fixed. If she is having a little every 6 months, that's very tiring for her. She is only having a small window of time to get back into shape and restore her health. Pregnancy and nursing are both trying to a cat. If you want her to have a long, healthy life (as well as cut down on unwanted kittens/pregnancies) do her a favor and have her spayed.

SHES PREGNANT?????

I have had cats that when they are ready to give birth they think they should have a kitten and will accept the older kitten until the new kitties are born. You need to discourage the older kitten from nursing off his mama.

Whats going on is that since she hasn't been spayed she's continuing to add to the pet overpopulation problem. If you get her spayed then you won't have to worry about this.

And look, if you want to keep ALL the kittens, have as many as you like. But since you're only keeping a few (and perhaps none from this litter) you need to get her spayed ASAP! That's what is going on.
