What are the odds of a one stand producing a child with a35 yo male and 20 yo female? |
In a huge error in judgement , my friend had a one night stand with a girl , who with in days started saying that she would have his baby and would marry him , a month and half later she has taken a home preg test , before her period was due at night no less and it came up with a very clear result , she has been to the doctor twice , one time had an ultrasound that has now disappeared , the baby appeared in the picture to be about an inch long , he didn't get measurements , with no tail, and refuses to do a CVS test for paternity and has already started showing , what are the odds that she is actually 8 weeks as she says , and what can he do to get a good answer on how far along she is, she was also having morning sickness at when she took the home test , and I thought that was supposed to start at 8 wks, please , if dr or nurse could answer this , i would greatly appreciate it , my friend is in horrible position , and needs help before he has a heart attack. Thank you I am a little bit confused. If she took the preg test a month and a half later then she would have been due for a period between the one night stand and the test. She may have missed that period (but you said the test was before she missed her period), had period like bleeding (that was not technically her period) or gotten pregnant after the one night stand. Pregnancy tests are recommended to be used around the time a period is due because in most women who have a normal cycle that is around the time that the hormones can be detected. However, doing a test anytime after about 14 days after sex SHOULD be accurate (but is not always). I hope that bit made sense!! think your own its would be more helpful for you. I'm not a doctor or a nurse, but by court of law he does not have to pay child support until the baby is proven to be his. well i was showing at about 5 weeks with this pregnancy and i actually felt sick the week before my period was due. this is my 3rd baby so i knew i was pregnant and the only way to say for sure if it is his is to find out when her last period was and then you add 2 weeks to the first day of her last period and thats when the baby was probably conceived and if your friend slept with her around that time then it is probably his and if she is 8 weeks like she says thenthe baby would have been conceived around the 9th of septemberand her last period would have been on the or around 26th 0f august. I hope this helped It is very possible that he conceived a child with her. It is not uncommon for women to get morning sickness upon conception. Also, CVS testing is VERY DANGEROUS for the fetus and is never done strictly to establish paternity. My best advice for your friend is to stick around for her during her pregnancy. He can explain to her upfront that he feels there is a discrepency between how many weeks pregnant she is and how many weeks it's been since they had sex. If I were him, I wouldn't purchase any baby items but would pay her co-pays instead. That way, if the baby is his no one can say that he didn't help out from the beginning and if he isn't well, no big loss. Good luck. I started feeling nauseated 4 days after conception... So I don't think that should help you come to a conclusion. I am not a Dr or a Nurse...however I do want to give my imput. First off, I am just about 37 weeks pregnant. I had morning sickness immediately (I went to Dr on March 5 for pain and it came up neg on preg test..went back on the 9th for the pain again and test came up positive...3 days later the sickness started). So no, you dont have to be 8 weeks for morning sickness to start. As far as the CVS test, Ive been told that unless there is clear reason for it to be done (mothers age, for example) it is discouraged for risk of miscarriage. Chances are, the Dr doesn't want to get involved in the drama and do a procedure that is not necessary. It does seem suspicious that she would say immediately that she'd have his baby. Almost sounds like she knew she was pregnant at the time of the one night stand. Anyway, at some point the Dr is going to have to do measurements to give estimated due date and to be sure the baby is developing at the right pace. Until then, it doesn't seem like anything else can be done unless she cooperates and gives some clear answers. Best of luck in that situation. Last resort is paternity test when she delivers the baby. it's definitely possible and he should just wait until the baby is born and get a blood test then. he can also go with her to the dr's appt. he can probably just ask when the due date is and then later figure out if that fits. just tell him to remember that the pregnancy technically starts from the first day of the last menstrual period so she would technically have been aprox two weeks pregnant when they had sex. I have been through some medical training not to mention a daughter and pregnant again. From the ultrasound it sounds like she could be 8 weeks along. As for morning sickness that can start from the next day after having sex. As for her showing, she more then likely is showing because she is bloated which almost all women go through, and it also depends on her size. no morning sickness start from the very beginning and ends around 12 weeks for most people, and to know what the dates are he just needs to know when her last period was that is what the docs use to determain how far along a pregnancy is, i don't remeber how big both my babies were at 8 weeks but i read that at 8 weeks the baby generally is about 8-11 mm don't know that is in inches, i guess the only way he could know is to either have a test done during the pregnancy which they usally would do at 16 weeks because there is a chance of miscarriage, they take fluid from around the baby they also use this test for knowing the sex of the baby and also for abnormailites they can test the blood to say if he is the father or not, either that or he'd have to wait until after the birth and have a dna test done by either taking blood or a mouth swab, if she doesn't allow this to happen he can take her to court and et a court order. From what you say it is quite possible she is not telling the truth, although also possible she is. u do not have to be 8 weeks nor 5 weeks pregnant to get morning sickness....you can get it earlier on or futher down in pregnancy... "EACH WOMAN IS DIFFERENT". Well you need to tell your friend to tell her if she does not want to get a pertanity test she'll get nothing from him:) unless she is a rich successful mom 2 be and can provide for this baby on her own she wont mind him saying such other than that she'll probably go trough the court system! and thats what he'll want right? |
