Ultrascreen test today @ 12 weeks. Were those male parts I saw?

Ok I had my ultrascreen ultrasound this morning and when she took a picture of the legs I swear I saw a penis inbetween. When I asked the nurse she just shrugged it off and said "it's too early to tell". I know 12 weeks is early but is it possible that it COULD show? When do those organs form?

The reason for me making a big deal about it...I have 2 boys, this is our last child and I really really really really badly want a little girl. Obviously if it's a boy I will love him just like the others but I have enough men in the house with my husband and 2 boys. lol.

So I just wanted to hear some opinions. Thanks!

My doc doesn't do the ultrasound to find out the sex until 22 weeks. 10 weeks seems like eternity! :(

Hey I just had my ultrascreen done on Friday march 7th, 2008 and I had the same question. The nurse let me know that since the baby was only 12 weeks old it would be impossible to tell and that what I saw in between the legs was in reality a bone that they call nub that nub will later on change in size so it is not the genital organ. She also explained to me that if the "nub" is downard it could be a girl and upward it is a boy. I cant really remember the details about it but you might be able to search it online. I know you must be asimpatient as I am to find out the sex of the baby , but your best bet is to wait for the next ultrasound where they will specifically dedicate that hour to find out the sex of the child . It could've been the umbilical cord..

Wow I had my u/s done at 11 weeks and 4 days and I couldn't see anything still. I think I saw the spine and a foot but that's it. When he took the pic the baby jumped so my pic is not clear.

Hang in there a couple more weeks and you'll find out for sure

No it couldnt have been. Those boy 'parts' dont even start to grow until you are at least 13 weeks along so a girl is still possible! Good luck either way.

well i do know that it's possible to tell with ultrasound by 16 weeks, that's when i found out with my son.... and as for when the organs are formed... My grandma and I were actually having a conversation about that yesterday and she was telling me that she had had a miscarriage at 8 weeks one time and that when the nurse looked at it she had said "he would have been a big boy" when my grandma asked how she could tell they told her that it was one of the first parts to form. so maybe they are just not pronounced enough to tell on ultrasound until a lot later.....
