Do you think that male "feminists" are often creepy?

I've met a few, and seen a bunch online. A lot of them come off (to me at least) as phony, closetted misogynists who are just trying to ingratiate themselves to girls. I've also noticed that they usually struggle mightily to attract any women.

I'm not talking about regular guys who just think of women as regular people. I mean the ones who go out of their way to defend a woman against the mildest joke at her expense, or correct any non-politically correct assumption (like assuming a nurse was a woman, or something).

I find any feminist like that pretty creepy - male or female. But I've met a few men like you're describing.

I was at a conference once where this guy was standing around preaching about the work he does with abusive men. All the while he was standing up and there were about five women sitting cross-legged around him. And I swear he had an erection! I see him quite often in my travels and I can't get that image out of my head.

It's interesting though - the "swoop in and save 'em" tactic is so very out of line with feminism that it just cracks me up. If the guy has good intentions, I usually shrug it off. But I've met lots of men in my field who are idolized because they are feminists with a penis. And the worst part is, they are so rare, they'll always have good jobs that pay well. Ironic huh?

yes, they are always very creepy.... they pretend to believe in feminist propaganda in a desperate attempt to score some brownie points with most unattractive gals out there... If thats not creepy then I dont know what is...

I've never met any male feminists who act like that. I did know an anti-feminist guy who tried to defend me whenever someone was making a crack about me, or trying to play-fight. I took it in stride, but he was trying to be my saviour.

I don't know what's creepier. Their cult-like phoniness or the fact that....*gulp*....They're attempting to impress feminists.

I hate all forms of hypocricy, pretending to believe in something for a precieved benefit and actualy beleiving in something else, It would be a much saner world if people dropped the political correctness bs and stated what they beleived and not what other people want to hear

Male feminists are a joke. They play the game to get closer to women. Women want men so they place the male feminist into the friend zone. All that work just to be in the friend zone with feminist women? I have pity for those males.

Given the circumstances you have described, I just get the feeling that they are being nice, and nothing more than that. But if they are not that in other situations, then probably they don't know any other way of getting into a woman's pants.

To clarify - I m not a feminist, and have never been influenced/affected by any such idealogies.
