Need help getting a literary agent?

now up to 12 rejections. I'm pretty sure they don't even read the synopsis let alone the sample chapters. Does anyone know of any agents that deal with medical novels. To be more specific they're true stories which look at the good,bad and ugly of the public health service, told from a male nurses.

Getting an agent is not the answer to every problem. Lots of them will take your cash and do nothing for you, but even the best can't sel; something that is not commercial. Take another look at your book and ask yourself : is it really just a sequence of unrelated incidents or is it a story that will draw people in, make them identify with the main character and wonder how it will all turn out? Make sure it's the latter by creating a really vivid main character and use your medical scenes just as background to an ongoing scenario full of action and incident. There are dozens of books in the library that will help you to do this.

maybe that will help, it is a free search, so good luck and sorry about all the rejections, maybe ur book needs a little spice added to it or just the right kick to make it more intriguing. but i wish all the best.

Don't give up. If you really believe in it then you will get there. Check that the first paragraphs (and preferably the first sentence of both your first sample chapters and your synopsis) of your submission open with a bang. Grab the editor's attention straight away. Don't begin by describing your character, jump straight to the action. Also make your covering letter as punchy and interesting as possible. It might seem tiresome but you may have to rethink your synopsis and letter.

Don't be disheartened, it's very competitive and these days it seems everyone wants to be writer. I have it on good authority that Malorie Blackman had 82 rejections - now look at her. Check out this link to Lisa Gardner's website, there's some really good advice for writers. Good luck.

It may be worth asking for some feedback from the agents have sent rejections. It could be that they all say the same thing: maybe you havent sent them what they want, it isnt written in the right format...?
Just to make you feel better, JK Rowling got loads of rejections (how idiotic must those people feel?!).
Get talking with agents and find out what they look for then you can be as prepared as possible. and also, you'll need some good old-fashioned luck!
