Feel I embarrassed doctor for hernia exam?

just got back from doctor for full exam and I really feel embarrassed. Firstly I had never had a hernia exam and didn't realize what was involved in it.
The doctor performed a routine body exam (breathing etc) and then came time for the hernia part and he asked me to lower my pants, and then underclothes. All the while I am thinking this is pretty weird.

So then when he actually started touching down there I was a bit un-nerved.

After the doctor left out and then the nurse (also a guy) came back in, I asked him what all happens during a hernia exam. He indicated and I've since looked up on the internet that touching down there is a normal part of the hernia exam, only thing is when I was asking the male nurse this, the doctor walked back in. So now I feel bad for thinking ill of the doctor.
Actually I don't know how I can face him again after basically asking his nurse if I was molested! in more or less words

You should have been informed first about the procedure. But what you felt is totally normal especially when it was totally unexpected.

Don't get embarrassed and don't feel guilty. This doctor is very much happy to have examined you the best he can rather than missing out on things to your disadvantage.

i'm sure they understand a man feeling a bit off after an intimate exam like that. next time you see him dont let it weigh so heavily on you, if you must address it just tell him it kinda un-nerved you a bit, its normal really and thats most likely what the doc will tell you. i've had a baby so i know what it feels like to be sitting there with what seems like half the world up your butt and i wasnt comfy either hehe.

Would it be possible to request a female doctor for this?

I have several female doctors
I am never embarrassed to have them examine me.I was always un comfortable with the male doctors.
female doctors are easier for me to be around.
