My dad was diagnosed with cancer of the prostate, and has had to have a urinal catheter fitted in late march 07 |
The distric male nurse called to change my dads catheter today, and after 40mins,told my parents that he had put the tube too far in & now my dad is bleeding profusely. The nurse said he would make an appointment to see his doctor, but my mother used her instinct & called an ambulance, who rushed dad into hospital.Being told by hospital the managed to remove catheter, but he may need to have an operation on his bladder & a blood transfusion this evening or in morning. Is this incompetence due to the nurses actions?Dad was coping fine before this. Not sure who or what questions to be asking or to whom, just need my dad to be ok!!! Any advice please. First remeber medicine is a "practice" ask the series of events that led to it being inserted to far. In my experience foley catheters are flexible and can bend around the wall of the bladder. if theres medications or infection in the bladder. wich is common it easily can start bleeding to any slight trauma. I personaly don't thing theres negligence. i think his condition with the necessity just brough a horrible series of events. just be with your dad and tell him you love him. best medicine. and to some post up top..call an attorney, sue..and people wonder why they cant afford health care. and the nurse from what was stated did handle it appropriatly. i imagine the condition got worse after a period of time. maybe a short period of time but the bleeding could cause the perferation to grow. I pray your dad does well. Your poor Dad - I hope he's soon feeler better. You should take up your concerns about the district nurse with staff at the hospital - they will be able to advise you - if they can't you MUST ring your own Dr and discuss. If you want to complain because you feel he's negligent, you must do so. I hope everything goes well for you Dad. here is some advice-call an attorney! the nurse did not do the job correctly and failed to help him afterwords. i hope that everything goes well. please research about the moringa tree. www.drinklifein.com and reasearch about the moringa tree and it's great benefits naturally. the moringa tree has been used for centuries in other parts of the world and yet it's so unknown here. that's why zija was formulated last year by the top formulator and is backed up by top scientists and top nutritionists. the moringa tree was featured in the disovery channel and has helped malnourished people in africa to survive.many organizations from all over the world support the moringa tree to be healthy and scientifically proven to be great natural nutrition for the body. we drink it everyday and also became distributors because we are really looking for people to realize about this amazing tree. ZIJA is basically the moringa tree in a can. 100% natural. vitamins on the market are all synthetically made. if you have any questions ploease email us at michellebsamson@yahoo.com. please do research it is amazing. Bleeding is an extremely common side effect of catheterisation, especially in men with enlarged prostate glands as it makes the urethral opening narrower, not neccessarily negligence. If you need specific answers regarding your dad's case I suggest you contact your district nursing team or your GP practice who will be able to look into your specific case. All the best. |
