Medicaid coverage, 36 weeks pregnant(1st), will it pay if I happen to give birth in another state??

Anyone know if medicaid will cover a birth outside of the state I live in and have it through? Or is it definitely just for in-state use?
just moved,can't find my book:(

*please dont post the expected "call your local office" cause I plan on calling in the morning, its late and something just came up and I cant call right now, just curious to know if anyone had medicaid in one state and it covered their hospital bill for delivery in another.

*dont worry I am going to call before I go, to make sure, and no way am I going if they can't cover it.

*I dont expect to go into labor in the next week as I have had NO contractions or even Braxton hicks etc,, but I know that anything could happen at any time, etc.

*I'm not really that worried about delivering away from home because my local hospital is terrible.
I might actually be relieved to go into labor while with my family,, because my aunt is a neonatal icu nurse at that local hospital.

real answers only please!
thanks.

Well I live on the border of alabama and florida and I know that if I had an emergency I could go to whatever hospital I wanted no matter where I was and medicaid would pay. My sons doctor had to make a referral to go to a hospital in florida but they did pay. I dont know if this helps you but I know they will cover under certain cicumstances.

Medicaid is medicaid... It'll work anywhere you go!

i believe they do cover it... i have temp medicaid and live in jersey, also going to a crumby hospital (cooper... it sucks, theyve screwed everything up so far)..... but i visit philly a lot which is like 5 minutes away... not even.... so i was concerned about that as well and while im not positive, another mom in the waiting area told me it doesnt matter, that theyll cover me.

Medicaid is a state funded program. It only works in your home state. Medicaid greatly varies from state to state as well.
