Salary wages????

I'm just wondering...
How much (roughly) does a Secondary English teacher get?
And how much (again, roughly) does a neonatal nurse or an OB nurse (working with newborns) get?

Thanks!

this will have answer about any job you are interested in.

http://www.bls.gov/oco/

An OB nurse, ('Registered Nurse') will (or SHOULD) make (plus or minus) close to $30 an hour... depending... on such things as 'employment status' - (as in PRN, Part-Time, Full-Time, etc.); the SHIFT they work - (as in 7am-3pm, 3pm -11pm, 11pm-7am); Seniority - (as in How LONG have you been working); and EDUCATION - (as in 'assistant' -which I can't even define; LPN, RN, Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree, etc., LOCATION, and more).

I KNOW what a 'Substitute Teacher' gets paid, who can TEACH (as a Substitute) any grade from K-12). It's better 'work' , and better 'hours' - maybe - than a FULL-TIME "SECONDARY ENGLISH" teacher! More HASSLE, because you never know - until the phone rings - whether or not you will be working in the morning! More STRESS, because you are expected to maintain 'continuity' in the educational process until the REGULAR teacher returns! A substitue will get paid more than 'flipping burgers', but for ALL that goes with it, I'm not sure that the "hourly rate" is better! I think, in some ways, flipping burgers is probably EASIER... and you don't have to put-up with INSOLENT kids...and you would KNOW that if you put-in "X" number of hours, you will get PAID ("X" times whatever), The 'teacher' doesn't get paid THAT way...

I'm not sure which ('flipping burgers' or 'teaching school' is SAFER - as in having someone 'pull a weapon'...)

If you are ASKING for MONETARY reasons... I would go for the RN... the OB... Whether or not you DO 'OB', as an RN, you are going to make MORE $$ per hour than a teacher! (Except of course... if you are TEACHING "NURSING"...)

A 'PRN' Nurse, can make a six-figure income... but, it's a LOT of HOURS!!! A 'TEACHER', unless they are in the VERY UPPER levels... will NOT make THAT kind of income... I'm talking about Superintendent of a SYSTEM, not just a 'school'...

There are ALSO the 'benefits'... which is a whole 'nother subject...

Hope this helps... At the LEAST, it should give you something to THINK about!!!

:)
