What are the differences between the duties performed by neonatologists versus neonatal nurse practitioners?

The neonatal nurse practitioner is not JUST an RN, there is additional studies required, most likely at least a masters degree. The nurse practitioner most likely spends more time with the actual patient and therefore knows more about the patient's current condition. The neonatologist will make more money, but will also be paying more malpractice insurance and will have responsibility over the patient's wellbeing, will visit the patient most likely one time a day.
