I know a neonatal nurse works with sick and premature babies, whats thenurse called tha handle healthy babies?

thanks!! you both are helpful! I want to be a neonatal nurse, but I heard being with the sick ones make many people very depressed, and I already have high depression, so it is nothing against them, there life would be in my hands.. so I feel better in the healthy part. I am in the first yr of college for nursing!

I know it is your first year, you have an idea of what you want to do and that is great but wait till you do all your clinicals you may find that you like something better. or when you work in the area that you think you like you may actually hate it. I thought I would like the Adult cardio thorasic surgery but i hated it. I loved the step down unit though. Now i am in Pediatric Er and love it butt it is time for a switch maybe ob. You can do so much in Nursing Leave all your obertunities open. good luck,

pediatric nurse

It's the same thing. Neonatal means newborn. There is a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and the nurses there work with sick babies. But any nurse who takes care of babies is a neonatal nurse.
