Children's Health care Is a Legal Duty, do you agree or disagree? Why?

Parents have custody of children and they must,therefore, have a legal duty to provide them with neccessary medical care.
I would like to share with you some of the children who have been injured by religiously-based medical neglect. Their parents are neither bad people nor morally innocent.

Michael Schram, age 12, died of peritonitis after his appendix ruptured in Mercer Island, Washington, in 1979. His mother and Christian Science "practitioner" (church parlance for a professional faith healer) prayed over his dead body for several days before notifying a funeral home.
Amy Hermanson, age 7, died in 1986 in Sarasota, Florida from diabetes.
Ian Burdick, age 15, died of diabetes in 1987 in Van Nuys, California, Being cared for by a church "nurse" and a church "healer".
These are just a couple of many who have died at the hands of Christian Scientists and a few other religions like them who refuse medical attention for their children. Children's Healthcare Is a Legal Duty, yes.

These cases are HORRIBLE. None of these children would have died if they received proper medical care. Yes, the government should step in here.

"Christian Scientists" are considered a cult by most Christians. Christians in general are NOT against modern medicine, and most believe that if God has given man the means to treat diseases, it is his will that we use it.

I am disgusted by these stories. Believe me, it's not pretty to die from DKA (diabetic coma). Type 1 diabetes is ALWAYS fatal without insulin, and it is a horrible way to go. Can you imagine starving to death while your blood turns acidic? Sadly, if these kids would have gone to the doctor quickly, they would have been saved 100%. This isn't 1850 anymore. What the H*(& were these people thinking?

I normally respect most religions, but no one which willingly allows children to knowingly die from treatable illnesses. The courts should always take control in cases like this. No exceptions. I agree that jail is the right punishment.

Health care for anyone in our care is our (legal) duty and our moral duty.
This applies to animals too.
I have heard of stories like those before, it is just too sad to contemplate.

Jesus made mention of physicians, God made herbs and natural compounds to be used in our healing.


People who cause children to die by not taking them for health care should be prosecuted, and jailed. And their remaining children placed in responsible loving homes.

Christian scientists and any other charasmatic healers are usually bad news. Of course we have to take our children to the doctor is they are sick. We as Christians are suppose to pray for the sick, not pray and wait to see if they get better all by themselves without any medical attention.
