Late period, negative pregnancy test? |
I'm on the pill, but I was informed by my nurse practitioner that it might not be working too well and to use back up. The day before she told me, we had sex as usual assuming it was OK. I still continued to take the rest of my pill pack and now I'm at the last of my 7 filler days when your period is supposed to come, and I still haven't started. My periods have both come the 23rd the past two months, and I still haven't started. My pregnancy tests have all come out negative. Is there still a chance I might be pregnant? If you're new to the whole "Pill" thing, it can take awhile before your period will be normal again. You can spot for a month in a row, or not have your period for a month and a half...try not to worry so much -doing that can actually make your period not come...If you're taking birth control properly it is 99.9% effective...there's always a chance you could be...but it isn't likely. I would say that if you don't have it in a week you should probably go see your doctor just to make sure everything's ok. it's normal but u should as a doctor Sit tight test again in 5 days or go to a doctor for a blood test there could be a chance you are pregnant because sometimes the levels of hormonal change don't show up on the pee stick right away -- wait another week or so before testing again. Sometimes being anxious about whether or not you are pregnant could cause a delay in your cycle. I think you are worrying too soon - but I know, it's hard not to. From experience (actually my period is 5 days late right now), I took a test yesterday and it came out negative. I would guess you are stressing yourself out - from this, maybe work, school, homelife, whatever, and it is causing a delay. However, sometimes the over the counter pregnancy tests are not accurate and a blood test is in order. But I would wait another 5 days and re-test. Take a pregnanacy test in a week or so.Refrain from taking you pills for around 10 days.If you have sex well get your partner to use a condom of course. After that time lapse if you have no period then visit your doctor. If you have no pains and no immediate symptoms i would suggest you wait another month before visiting the doc but if you feel something is wrong then do go sooner. This happens to me all the time! I am on the pill and have been for many years. Sometimes I get my period- and it is light, other times it is heavy and sometimes it is not there at all. I have taken tests and they are all ok and I am not pregnant. If this is something that really bothers you, switch pills. There are many that you can chose from that will give you a period every month. I also am not sure why your NP would tell you that your pill may not work... I think you need to switch pills and or find a new medical professional. |
