This is so important. please help?

At 6 weeks an 3 days pregnant from last period, (give or take a day or two) can a yolk sac or fetal pole be seen on an abdominal ultrasound and NOT a transvaginial one? I had an abdominal ultrasound done yesterday just to see if anything could be seen (for peace of mind until my official first prenatal visit) and the only thing the nurse practitioner pointed out was the gestational sac. I was looking for a yolk sac or anything within the gestational sac but saw nothing. I didnt ask either--I probably should have. She scheduled me for an ultrasound on the 3rd of August with the radiologist. I just wanted to know if anyone here had a regular abdominal type ultrasound at around 6-7 weeks and you saw ONLY the sac and then later on down then line you saw the yolk sac, etc.

I'm not fat, but not skinny, just replying that to the poster that said it depends on my weight. I'm 130 at 5'7.

At 6w3d, not much can be seen. It's a good sign that a sac was seen, it will be much easier to distinguish different things in August. Plus, it would be easier to see things transvaginally vs. abdominally.

Depends on how skinny you are.

I had a vaginal U/S at around 7 weeks and saw the yolk sac, and the baby's heartbeat.

Then I had an abdominal one at 9 weeks and was able to see the umbilical cord developing and everything else.

I was SUPER skinny. Like inverted stomach skinny.

Yeah its normal to only see the gestational sac wait two more weeks and you will see the yolk sac and the fetal pole and maybe a heart beat. Ask for another ultrasound in a couple or three weeks.

My first ultrasound was done abdominal at 8 weeks. I was able to see the yolk sac, to me it did not look like much, but it made the pregnancy even more real.
