Is there a virus going around that causes naseau and sharp pains in abdomen?

I have had this off and on for over three weeks. It will go away for 2 days and then come back. When it comes back it's instanteous. I woke up, felt great, went about my usual day, about and hour later started having sharp knife pains in my stomach, then my mouth started watering, but I never threw up. This is day 2 of this round and the pains are non stop, almost unbearable. They start high and with every bite of food I try to eat they jab me. Then they will move to my naval and concentrate there. I have no diarhea.. I have been eating mostly yogurt, cottage cheese, fruit, turkey, bread. Nothing spicy. My friend said she had the same thing and the "nurse practitioner" said there were a lot of things going around. I don't believe it. I've had it too long to be a virus.

I have a doctors appointment next week.

My kids threw this around back and forth for a month. It was accompanied by diarrhea at its 'highest' points. My doctor said that it is a virulent and malicious form of gastroenteritis that has mutated and is, in fact, making its rounds.

I agree that you should see your doc. If it ISN'T gastroenteritis, it might be an ulcer or parasite. Regardless, seeing your doc might mean he will be able to help with the pain and symptoms until you are better.
