I have a "short cervix"..what can I do? |
I found out a few weeks ago I had a short cervix, I also had high bloodpressure (which did go down), and a uti(the uti is cleared up now). Right after I found out I had high BP, the nurse practitioner said bedrest until monday and no sex. I went to the appointment that Monday and saw my real doctor and everything was perfect and I asked if I was still on bedrest and she said "Well you need to recharge your battery sometimes.."so it doesn't sound like it's strict bedrest anymore. I'm wondering if anyone knows if it's okay to still have sex though when you have a short cervix? I wasn't sure if that practioner meant no sex until that monday or for the rest of my pregnancy. Short Cervix means any stimulation can and usually will result in preterm labour. I lost my son @ 18 weeks due to it and then went with my third child , got suture done @ 12 weeks, bedrest@20 weeks and it still resulted in early labour @ 35 weeks. Becareful, any stimulation will result in early labour. Having sex irritates the cervix, if you have issues with your cervix its not worth it to risk it. i had an incompitant cervix, both my pregnancies, the first one i was on bed rest two months in the hospital and still gave birth 10 weeks early, the second i had a stitch to sew my cervix shut and went full term, both my children are fine, but i still wouldnt take the risk until you ask your doctor, a short cervix can be very serious, take it easy and call your doctor with any questions, good luck! |
