Any Doctors? Is Omnicef still effective after the 10 day period.? |
It is very expensive, my 4 year old was on Omnicef (reconstituted) last month 10 days for an ear infection. She is having the same symptoms again, and a fever. There is some left (I was told there would be, but that it wouldn't be effective so just to throw it out), however a nurse practitioner friend of mine told me to keep it. It's only a month old. Good or no good? no good! The drug powder is reconstituted (mixed) with water when you get the prescription. Unless it contains a preservative, any product with water in it can grow bacteria after a certain period of time (usually after 2 weeks). The powder does NOT have a preservative in it, which is why it's not already mixed on the pharmacy shelves. Throw it away and do NOT give it to your child! |
