How do I get a discharge from the army?

I need to get a discharge from the army. I need to get out because I have severe depression, anxiety and borderline personality disorder. Will that be accepted as a medical discharge? How do I go about getting discharged. I'm assuming I'll need paperwork from my therapist, psychiatric nurse practitioner and the psychiatric hospital I was at not to long ago. I can easily get these if they'll help my case.

You sorry wimpy A $ $ wipe!
a tour of Iraq will cure your so called "depression"

friggin yellow bellied coward!

lol, Wow, you really want out. If you're really in the army then I would go talk to your C/O and tell him whats going on. It sounds like you will have have a decent cause to get out as long as you have the right documentation.

And as for SOLIERZWYFE06 said below, I'm sorry, but I never said anything about being pregnant for your information.

if you have any mental problems or you'll have if you keep yourself in the army, I think they'll discharge you ASAP.....

i was in the navy and i knew a guy that got out simply by wetting his bed every night. not joking

Make an appointment with mental health & advise them of the treatment you've been getting. They'll pick up treatment and if/when they think you need to be refered to a board then they'll do so.

Or, you could get your crap together and finish your contract to ETS. Your question sounds like you're okay. I understand things can be hard at times, especially when you're away from home and lonly under a lot of stress, but it's not going to be easier on the outside. You have to grow up & deal with your problems. You wanna sing some sob story to the doc though and get tossed on a med discharge to enjoy the great VA system and try finding a job and getting on with your life... well good luck with that, you're going to need it.

I would go to your base physician and explain what is going on.

If you could hold off until your enlistment, it would look better on your record to have a decent discharge.

See, you're in a catch 22...if the Army didn't cause these conditions, and you knew about them before you went in, you could get your butt in trouble for non-disclosure.

IF the Army caused these changes in your mental condition, then you could go about trying to discharge under disability through the service.

just commenting on the first answer...as to getting pregnant...THAT IS NOT A WAY OF GETTING DISCHARGED!! you go on maternity leave, then its BACK to work afte rthe baby! and as for your question, my bro in law had similar problems (he was in the navy) and he was medically discharged (it was honorable)...so yes, go to your physician, have them contact your c/o, discuss it and that should do the trick..but dont TELL THEM YOU'RE TRYING TO GET DISCHARGED...DUH!

Just hope they don't try to say it was a "pre-existing condition." Make sure you have all your documentation. My husband has injuries and is probably going to go through a med discharge process and I have kept every single paper since he made his way home from Iraq.

get the sand out of your pussy

This is easy provided your problems are real. Forget about your therapist, the review board will make you take any test you've had over again. Step one go to sick call and ask for a referral to a specialist that deals with your problems. The bad thing is that your military life from that point on will suck total ***, most commands frown on this sort of thing. Over the course of a year our so you'll see a bunch of Army shrinks who will medicate you and evaluate you, and if your really ****** up recommend you be discharged for psychological reasons.

If you want to go that route you will need to get evaluated by military medical personel or a medical personel who have been screened by the military. These days there are a lot of cons being run by active duty members to get out of the service.

hey. im getting out the same way you want to get out and heres how im doing it: i started seeing a therapist and he requested a meeting with me, my supervisor, and my company commander to discuss my depression and inability to adapt. lucky for me my commander is not an *** and was really helpful. my supervisor was too! your shrink has to do a psychological evaluation for you and after that theres more paperwork that has to come from your supervisor/commander. it takes awhile but theres no way im finishing my 6 year contract. the army is definately NOT for everyone. dont be ashamed. i used to be really embarassed about it but everyone is totally for me getting out and doing all they can. its easy to tell the ones who arent meant for this lifestyle. lol. good luck

Tell your commanding officer that you are a Coward and a Momma's Boy, and have no Honor or Patriotism. You could also start dating one of Osama's daughters.
